CAN Fútbol Foundation (CANFF) is built on the belief that education is a fundamental human right and is something that everyone is entitled to. In fact, it is critical to our development as individuals and as societies, and it helps pave the way to a successful and productive future.
When we ensure that children have access to a quality education, we create a ripple effect of opportunity that impacts generations to come.
Education Campaign
Too many of the world’s children are out of school or receive inadequate, sub-standard educations. Each one of these children has dreams that may never be fulfilled, potential that may never be realized. By ensuring that every child has access to quality learning, we lay the foundation for growth, transformation, innovation, opportunity and equality-that is the goal and vision for CAN Fútbol Foundation.
CANFF believes that by utilizing the world’s most popular sport, soccer, as a platform for promoting education and societal issues, we provide the world’s underprivileged youth with an avenue for social mobility and a chance to realize their dreams.
Core Objectives
- To ensure that our student-athletes, regardless of their socioeconomic condition, have access to a quality education.
- To work with a wide-range of local, national and international partners and contributors in our endeavor to empower the worlds’ youth through soccer and education.
- To promote education as the foundation for social mobility.
- To promote a healthy, cultural coexistence through the use of soccer and education.
CANFF Biannual Awards Ceremony
The CAN Fútbol Foundation Awards Ceremony is our way of rewarding our student-athletes with soccer equipment for receiving a 87% average or better on their midterm and final grades. This event is held biannually. The purpose of this event is to acknowledge these students for their outstanding grades.
Typically, these students are rewarded with soccer equipment with which to practice and play. As a result of the network between many of the schools in Roatan, we are given each student’s grades so that we can effectively review their grades and therefore quantitatively track the progress of our student-athletes.
Proven Results
- Many of the student-athletes, prior to this initiative, did not have adequate equipment with which to practice or play.
- This has been the catalyst that has motivated many of our student-athletes to take academic serious, which in turn, helps them to not only develop properly as an athlete, but also as a student.
- Encouraging these student-athletes to embrace this positive lifestyle has kept them off the streets and away from negative influences such as drug trafficking, drug use, and prostitution among others.
Computer Campaign
CANFF collaborates with Investing in Futures, Inc. in order to provide the schools with which we work enough computers to help ensure that their students can benefit from the use of computers, the Internet, and other educational resources that are programed in to the donated computers.
Strategies
- To provide the student-athletes from these impoverished communities with access to the Internet and World Wide Web for educational purposes.
- To deliver the world to our student-athletes with the click of a mouse
- To provide them with a way to actively engage in hands-on learning.
