The following are a list of CAN Futbol Foundation’s most Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. What is the cost of the trip?

Ans. The total cost is approximately $2000.00 for a one month volunteership.

The costs are laid out in the following way:

There is a $500 dollar one time program fee. This pays for everything that goes into creating a support structure for our organization and for the yearly salary of Luis Alvarado, the CANFF coach and on-site program manager. Your flight and other costs are separate. CANFF organizes your room and board at the house of Prof. Andres, the school superintendent, but you pay him directly. The cost per month for a room & meals is approximately $170 US dollars (prices vary according to exchange rates).

Q. What is the duration of the trip?

Ans. Trip length depends on the volunteer, but we do not accept volunteers for less than 3 weeks. Volunteers stay on for up to 6 months.

Q. Is a pick up from the airport included in the cost?

Ans. Yes, Luis Alvarado (our on-the-ground director) picks you up & drops you off for your return flight.

Q. What would be some of my responsibilities?

Ans. The following items are what most CANFF volunteers spend most of their time doing:

  • Teaching English at CEB Dionisio de Herrera (a K-10 public school) for approximately 20 hours a week.
  • Involvement in community development & service projects – Our volunteers are expected to assist Luis Alvarado by helping to organize and coordinate our club’s youth.
  • Work with Luis with the soccer program(s). (This is optional)

Q. Where would my accommodations be?

Ans. Professor Andres’ house is in the community that you will be serving. It is 20 meters from the football field and a quarter of a kilometer from CEB Dionisio de Herrera. It is also located next to the local police station and the community’s shops.

Q. How do I go about sending in my application?

Ans. Applications can be scanned and emailed to CANFF’s Information Team at info@canff.org.

Q. Can I speak to someone who has been in the program before?

Ans. Yes, you can track what is going on by going to our volunteer blog,  The CANFF Insider; however, we do not give out information about our past volunteers, but you can contact them through this website.
